About

welcome

As you navigate your way through my blog and the evolution that naturally occurs as we grow through life, I hope you’ll find a little sparkle of hope and warmth that brings you peace of mind, even if it’s a fleeting moment. A small dose of light and love is good for the soul, so come back frequently to stay inspired.

Anna May Photography

I’m a Kentucky girl, born and raised from immigrant grandparents – I love sharing my knowledge of social media, life, love, and the city of Louisville as it’s my way to connect with others that share the same passions. I started Bella of Louisville in 2012 as a fun way to share my experiences with the brands I manage, nods to fashion, my favorite food, and the fun I have with my friends. I live in Louisville’s Highlands neighborhood with my loving husband of five years, Rick, four insta-kids, and three fur-babies; one cat and two dogs.

FUN FACTS:

Favorite restaurants in Louisville?  Our go-to restaurants for date night and hosting friends are bar Vetti in NuLu, Jack Fry’s in the Highlands, and any new spots that pop up on our radar. With the kids, we go to Feast BBQ, Royals Hot Chicken, and topp’t Pizza.

Favorite things? Buff City Soap laundry soap. Travling with my wonder-man husband. ALL the trees and plansts I’ve acquired since the pandemic started. Walking around in the Highlands and Cherokee Park, Married at First Sight, every 90 Day spin-off, SkinnyPop, bourbon cocktails, Mirror workouts, and anything that has eco-friendly glitter. <3 I also keep my hands in the dirt while I plant; it’s a positive feeling to watch something grow from your hard work and determination.

Hobbies?  Currently keeping my sanity with work and grad school. Legit. It’s a full-time constant state of mental and physical check-ins to give myself the care I need to stay in remission from Crohn’s Colitis, Lupus, Hashimoto’s disease, and Behcet’s disease. I’m a daily autoimmune warrior with challenges I rarely post about because I choose positivity and hope to get through each day without letting it completely dominate my mind, spirit, and dreams.

Least favorite things?  Unrequested feedback on my life. People that choose purchasing dogs and cats instead of rescuing them. Cigarette smokers. Mean spirited people and their bad vibes. People that put other people down to feel better about themselves. Watching women tear down other women; we’re all in this together, ladies! Put on your big girl panties and stop being Judge Judgey McJudgertons. Be a Love Loverly McLoverton instead!

Nonprofits I love? Philanthropy has been an essential part of my career. I have served on the Louisville Orchestra board, the Blessings in a Backpack national marketing committee, and Unbridled Eve Planning Committee. In addition to those boards, I’ve volunteered on the NeXtGen Alumni with Fund for the Arts, Kentucky Derby Festival’s MiniMarathon as an ambassador, Boys and Girls Haven Ambassador, IdeaFestival, Zoom Group of Louisville, Junior League of Louisville, Gilda’s Club, Susan G. Komen, BIAK, and the Denny Crum Scholarship Foundation. I’m currently helping with the social media Mack Family Foundation for the incredible work they do in the city and region. <3

// JUST A NOTE //

All recommendations you read on this blog are a true representation of my heart, mind, spirit, experience, and personal lifestyle. I monetized my blog, and it was the worst thing I ever did. I got out of the blog game a year ago to get back to the old me posted about inspiration, my work as a marketer and writer, things I love doing, and how I live my life while doing all of the above. If you’re in Louisville and own a business that you want exposure for, email me, and I’ll share your content for FREE if it fits into my ethos.

✨ 𝓉𝑜𝓅 𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑒 ✨ Compared to ✨ 𝓉𝑜𝓅 𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑒 ✨ Compared to other years, 40 posts in 2020 is scarcity at its finest when compared to other years of me posting almost every day. The time away has allowed me to get through one of the darkest years, so many of us have faced. While I’ve historically turned to my keyboard as a release of hardships, I’ve been unusually reclusive as I’ve focused on a silent health challenge, family, friends, work, and school as a guiding light. ✨ 2020 was a year I never really wanted, but I learned much about myself and tapped on inner strength to push through. ✨ Therefore I must be grateful for the lessons I’ve learned. 🙏 2021, please be kind. The world and I need it. #thankunext #surviveandthrive #ciao2020 #topnine

• 𝓂𝑜𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝒹𝓈 • Today I choose to show up as the best “me” I can be, much like how the ocean shows us how to be. ☀️ The empowered me that battles my autoimmune diseases with radical approaches to heal all within me. 💪 The confident me. The me that handles both anything and everything the world tosses at me. 🌎 The me that faces the world with eyes of possibility, creativity, and solution. 🤩 The me with a heart full of hope and a head full of beautiful dreams. 🥰 The me that floods others with kindness and love. 🌊 The me that knows my strength is my best asset because it paves the way for all of my dreams, much like a powerful currant like the waters can be. 💛 The me that knows it will be okay. Because this life is much like water, it never stays the same as it ebbs and flows. It’s a mystical cycle that reminds us how small we are compared to the big picture of this journey called life. 🤗 How refreshing is that ocean breeze. • 𝓈𝒽𝒶𝓉𝓉𝑒𝓇𝑒𝒹 • #writersofinstagram #wanderer #transformationtuesday #bellaoflouisville ✨
{ 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒷𝒾𝓇𝓉𝒽𝒹𝒶𝓎 𝒸𝒽𝑒𝒸𝓀-𝒾𝓃 } It’s my birthday week, and while there is so much happening in our world that impacts each of us in a multitude of ways, there is still so much I’m grateful for. • I have a loving husband, kids, mom, extended family, and my fur babies. • I’m in remission with my autoimmune diseases. While I still have bad days, the good ones overshadow them. • I’m growing my career with education to continue chasing my dreams. • I have a loving roof over my head, cozy clothes on my back, and inner peace about things I cannot control. • It might not sound like much, but for me, life has given me more than I’ve ever prayed for. • I’ve “socially distanced” myself IRL and digitally with COVID to focus on family and my faith. I’m re-emerging into the world with a renewed sense of contentment and optimism. I’m ready to shed the 37-year-old shell to joyfully leap into 38 with all the hope I can muster. ✨ Cheers to this wild journey we call life! 🥃 #anotheryearwiser #cheers #celebrateeveryday

So much comes into my mind when I think of the growth we've both shared, witnessed, and supported. The world may keep us distanced, but you are in my mind and heart every day.
