The Clapback

11.02.18 | Life · Love

The art of a clapback from a woman of integrity is the absence of one.

You see, there are so many hurt people ready to stab you after you help them rise to the occasion of their career and personal life because of their insecurities that come crawling out of them when they’re hurting and on the hunt to share that pain with anyone nearby.

It stings worse than most wounds in adulthood friendships because it’s the one you think will never happen to you.

You’re not a victim because you put yourself next to someone hurting which always carries a risk of unintentional pain transfer.

You help them do anything they need to reach their next level and they turn on you without notice with the hope that you’ll feed that pain with a clapback to dig deeper in that sad wound. If you do clapback, it gives them cause to aid in their rhetoric about you.

You don’t clap back. You keep your integrity and move forward.

Clapback is a noun that derives from an earlier verb, clap back, which refers to the same thing: responding to a criticism with a withering comeback.

Integrity is not something you show others. It is how you behave behind their back.

So be the lady they can’t be and move forward knowing you gave them time in your precious, fleeting life. You’re finished letting them eat at you as you pray for the apology you’ll never get.

Keep it moving, sweet girl! Save the clapping for yourself because you deserve mad props!!
