Desperately Seeking Serenity

10.11.18 | Life

“To become mindfully aware of our surroundings is to bring our thinking back to our present moment reality and to the possibility of some semblance of serenity in the face of circumstances outside our ability to control.” – Jeff Kober

No matter how hard you focus on peace or serenity there’s always a mental nuisance to work through. Often enough, I find myself escaping to the great outdoors of my backyard, Cherokee Park, or finding a new path out in the middle of nowhere to wander as if I’m in another place geographically.

When I can’t wander outside, I seek places to give me the same clarity that fresh air gives me.

Last week I made a quick visit to Serenity Spa for quick 30-minute work-up with their owner, Denise Willinger, for a quick massage. It was amazing! She’s super kind and as always, I’m all about women in business supporting one another, so if you wish to keep your spending with local ladies in Middletown, she’s your girl.

The older I get the more positive I am about who I am. It sounds completely ridiculous to say that you’re still trying to make it in the world without losing yourself but it’s the truth. You can hang with the wrong person and that can impact your mind negatively. If they muddy up your thoughts, just bow out. There isn’t enough time nor patience for it. Much like in business, if it isn’t mutually beneficial, why are you doing it?

The same can be said for being a mother/insta-mom, a friend, a daughter, et cetera. Everything we do in life can be viewed as stress and things are complex and can be completely out of control on the outside. That’s why keeping your inside mind, heart, and spirit focused on positivity. You can’t lose your integrity. If something isn’t right, bow out gracefully.

I feel better just writing that so I hope you feel great reading it.

If you need me, I’m out running around trying to survive. Luckily I have everything I may need in this bag that holds a small clutch, my laptop, my medications and supplements, and everything a person on the go may need as again, you can’t control what happens on the outside of your body, but you can control what happens on the inside. Be prepared for anything at any moment for serenity. Link for this bag is available below this image!
