Charleston knows how to preserve history, hone in on hospitality, and how to feed its people. On that note, please know that I’m very serious when I say I want to go to one of it’s restaurants every day of my life since introduced on May 11th and then again back on May 12th. Ten days feels like years when you’re separated from a love.
If it were in this city, I’d be the creepy regular that never goes away and always orders the same thing… a “Lillet Royale, 3 “Single Ladies” oysters, and three baked oysters; variations “Maitre’d Butter & Bread Crumbs”, “Alabama White Sauce & Bacon”, and “Pimento & Sourdough Soppers”. The husband would order a bourbon sour; bourbon of his choice and egg whites.
The funny thing about the Darling Oyster Bar is that it’s quite darling. The ambiance is full of attractive “hip” people, great lighting, and the food leaves you feeling enchanted. The drinks complete the experience and it’s from there your longing for more begins.
I shall return to you, Darling. It’s not goodbye, just farewell till I see you again.
