I never thought we’d get here, did you?
Chasing email communications from one another?
Waiting on the responding text when you see the three dots auto populating and then disappearing.
Misunderstanding one another based on unintended tones on text?
Jumping to conclusions without knowing what’s going on from the other side of the screen?
We think everything is about us when it isn’t.
We question our self worth when people don’t like or follow us back.
Like any of it matters… or does it?
This will be the conversation you’ll want to have with yourself because it’s your life. It’s your decision to choose what to place value on and what not to.
I’ve heard a lot of congratulations once I passed the 10k follower number I had for ages. Naturally, I’m gracious and I say “Thank you.” but I’m really thinking, “If Instagram blew up tomorrow, would any of it matter?”
The answer is a resounding unanimous response of “No.” I hope. But the reality is that nothing on Instagram would be relevant if it went away because we’d all focus on the next best thing… whatever that is.
This is life.
It’s all irrelevant or important and definable only by the person reading this… that’s right, sweetheart… it’s you. This fundamental question of relevance is only defined by Y-O-U.
Don’t be hard on yourself for it, instead take a gentle look at yourself in your favorite filter and ask yourself does any of this really matter?
TBD.
My only advice to you is to be obstinate about your goals and be flexible with who you are as you grow. Keep things light and bright so this dark and moody world doesn’t get the best of you. Save that for you.
