Louisville resident and University of Louisville alumna Krysta Manning, DMD, MBA, opens Solstice Dental & Aesthetics. Offering sophisticated technology in an eco-designed, airy facility, Solstice Dental & Aesthetics is located at 2301 Terra Crossing Boulevard, which is off Old Henry Road in East Louisville.
“With Solstice Dental & Aesthetics, I set out to create a unique business concept that combines social responsibility, sustainability and innovation,” says Solstice Dental & Aesthetics Owner and Dentist Krysta Manning, DMD, MBA. “The final product exceeds my expectations and brings concierge-style dentistry to Louisville with the addition of aesthetics to create an environment that is mindful of the health and well-being of Louisville’s families.”
Dr. Manning (pictured) earned her MBA in Entrepreneurship and DMD from UofL, and her undergraduate degree from Transylvania University. With eight years of clinical training, Dr. Manning worked as a dentist at Louisville’s Home of the Innocents, while completing her MBA. In 2016, she graduated with distinction from the MBA program and began working toward opening a start-up dental practice. “While creating the framework for Solstice Dental & Aesthetics, I took notes from conversations with people about what they like and dislike about going to the dentist. I took that knowledge, and blended compassion & expertise in creating a technology-driven, eco-friendly practice unlike any other in the Louisville area,” adds Dr. Manning.
The unique offerings at Solstice Dental & Aesthetics include:
– Digital scanner for impressions.
– Milling Unit for same-day crowns.
– Eco-friendly mercury filtering system.
– A Desensitizing Dentistry Program for patients with sensory challenges and/or anyone who has concerns about visiting the dentist.
– Pricing listed online and clearly explained at the initial consultation. Online booking is also available.
– Aesthetic services including Botox and fillers. Dr. Manning trained at the American Academy of Facial Aesthetics.
– A welcoming atmosphere created by using eco-friendly building practices including LEED-certified cabinets, recycled glass countertops, and local products from Barry Wooley Designs and the Anchal Project. A large mural was created by Louisville artist Hanna Barnhart. Dr. Manning also plays the piano and the space includes an Upright Piano.
Also, as a book lover, Dr. Manning will lead quarterly book clubs for the community at Solstice. The first book club is January 28 and the book is “Reading People” by Louisville author Anne Bogel. You do not have to be a patient to attend. To sign up for the quarterly book club, please download the Book Club app by Book Movement and join with the code 4ECF1E or call Solstice Dental at 502.434.4004.
An experience that truly sets Dr. Manning apart is her time serving as a general dentist in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps in Colorado. Through the Air Force, she completed more than 200 hours of Continuing Education in subjects such as complex operative dentistry, dental materials and aesthetics. Dr. Manning was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, attained the rank of Captain and was chosen to attend Commissioned Officer Training School.
Before her time in the Air Force and following graduation from the UofL’s Dental School in 2010, Dr. Manning completed a fellowship in Developmental Dentistry at a clinic that specialized in the treatment of adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Dr. Manning adds, “During the fellowship, I learned multiple techniques for managing patients with special behavioral concerns as well as complex medical histories. Most importantly, I developed a passion for treating this underserved population.”
Dr. Manning became the mother of triplets (two daughters and a son) in 2013. Her children were born on the Solstice, which led to the name of the practice.
