“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.”
– Yehuda Berg
Words. They are beautiful, ugly, healing, harmful, powerful, weak, bright, dark, and can evoke any feeling under the sun if not more at one time.
Words are a sizable part of who I am down to the core of the person I am as I exist today. When I was younger I knew the impact they had but I was shy and hated to say anything at all with the fear that those words could hurt people the way I saw them used from time to time.
It wasn’t until I was in my early twenties that I learned of the healing power of words. Healing for me to write and say them. The saying part came with time but writing them started a journey that brought me to where I am today. The ins and outs of that is a complex topic but mentionable if you’ve read my blog or know my story. A captivating concept if you’re willing to imagine the rabbit hole that exists within all of us is the story we all look at blogs for. Whether it’s a shallow or deep blog is irrelevant. The story is the story and that is what makes a writer have depth or live on the surface. Neither is correct because all together we play a fundamental role of supporting one another as linguists. Even the most superficial human being on earth has a vocabulary that they’ve crafted. It might be full of abbreviations or goofy ways to pronounce words but it’s not harming anyone so just let them live. It might be an annoying observation but c’est la vie.
If you’re an input seeker and love blogs about words, you’ve found a resting spot for your eyes for the next few minutes if not longer. I saved this list of words to my phone and started to feel guilty for not sharing them. I wish I could claim to be the organizer of them but I cannot. I found them on this post from a website that helps writers be better.
Enjoy the list. It’s quite beneficial for writers as we all have a writer within us. Sleeping and waiting to be woken up one day. I vote you wake that giant and let them loose. You never know how much it could change your personal and / or professional life.
