Who are you?
Seriously, who do you think you are? Take a step back from your social media version of you and check-in with who you are.
What are you values?
What are your desires?
What motivates you?
What do you hope to do?
Where do you want to be?
What are you willing to do to get there?
It’s easy to get pulled into a different way of thinking, feeling, and living. It’s quite difficult to rise above it and have a self-discovery moment of checking in and seeing if the place you’re at mentally and the spot you’re living in within life is where you want and need to be.
But if you have the list of questions from above answered somewhere readily available for you to check often; i.e. journal, note on phone, note on computer, or wherever, you can keep yourself in check with the real you.
Remember this: Your beliefs about you should be your compass throughout the windy roads you’ll travel in life.
Whatever you do, don’t worry so much about what anyone says to you or about you because the sad reality is that their thoughts about you doesn’t concern you. Their judgements of you are simply their limitations within themselves, not you. It gets complicated the more you try to show them who you are because your simply handing them more gasoline to throw on the fire that keeps their green eyed monster going like the Energizer Bunny.
Save your energy for the things and people that will actually matter in 20 years. Be confident in who you are and who you’re not. *Insert high five!* Everyone is fighting a battle that they don’t share with others which can keep you isolated and sadly leads to moments that you’re willing to bend your character or just to fit in with them. Forget all that noise and keep your focus forward. Even on your loneliest day, it’ll be more comforting to be who you want to be rather than existing in a life that isn’t your own.
Cut the puppet strings and keep your authenticity.
Make this your throwback Thursday theme: Throwback to the old you that wrote those beliefs; whether it’s in the past or present, write from your heart as it’s the mega storage server full of memories that make you, you. Whether you wrote it in the past or today you can recall those pivotal moments where you had x, y, z experience that make your scars and flaws who you are. Ignore the picture perfect images you see on social media. Everyone’s grass is greener with the right lighting and filter so don’t beat yourself up by comparing your life to the edited versions of a strangers Pinterest perfect Instagram feed. It’s not their entire reality, it’s just what they choose to show you.
Learn from that and learn magnify your strengths; in life and if you choose, you can make it your personal branding.
It’s your life, live it.
It’s your IG feed, post it.
You’re your #1 cheerleader in life so clap for the life you’ve lived, even if it you lost your way, you can always find your way back into the life you were destined to have … It just takes a little patience, self-love, and spirit!
G-O, let’s go, let’s go, G-O, let’s go, let’s go. Yes, you! Yay, life! Let’s go!
