As a content creator, Marriage Monday feels best for an ongoing dialogue about love since it is my current and forever status, I hope. Don’t get me wrong, Wedding Wednesday will stay in my mix because it was such a great day for us with friends, family, and even a few party crashers. But love is more than just a wedding, the wedding is the icing but I believe a healthy marriage is more important.
I recently read that the seven caring habits include supporting, encouraging, listening, accepting, trusting, respecting, and negotiating your differences. While the seven deadly habits are criticizing, blaming, complaining, nagging, threatening, punishing, and bribing.
Out of all the caring habits, I must say that the one I believe to be the most important is respect. Without respect you cannot support, encourage, listen, accept, trust, nor negotiate. Respect is responsible for a lasting love. Respect knows that the other person isn’t always right but you don’t have to tell them that’s the case. Just as you don’t have to win because you’re both in it together.
Marriages take work and if you’re not ready for the good and bad than you’re probably never going to be ready to be married to anyone. So when you find someone that can carry you to through the hardest moments of your day with their words or with their hand to help you stand when your legs are too weak to make it happen, you know that it’s real.
It’s easy to “love” when it’s all about kittens and sunshine. But that’s not real life. This isn’t a fairy-tale about a spoiled princess that needs riches to make their way in life, this is a blog about a real couple that have a love so true that nothing can break it.
