One of my favorite things about the city of Louisville is the connectivity that comes naturally. We’re philanthropic, compassionate, innovative, kind, and welcoming. It’s unlike any other city that I’ve ever experienced.
My biggest contribution to anything I do is that I bring in others to be a part of anything and everything I do because I’ve learned throughout the years of my professional life that in order for us to grow individually and together is that we have to be ambassadors for one another so we can thrive as a community.
It’s not a competition about who knows who, who does more than this person, or whatever comparison we decide to impose on people in our slice of the universe. At the end of the day we’re all just trying to make the world a better place so why not pull together as many people as we can to make it amazing?
Along this path I’ve met phenomenal women and have had the opportunity to get to know them. One of these women is a blogger that can make you smile from her kindness, feel humbled by her grace, and laugh with her because she’s ha-larious.
Meet blogger, mom, professional, friend, and today’s Human of Louisville: Taryn Skees
“Although I haven’t lived in Louisville my whole life, I am connected to this city in many ways. My mom is from Chicago, but came to Louisville to attend Ursaline College (which merged with and eventually became Bellarmine). My dad is a Louisville native and went to UofL where he met my mom. Many years later, after growing up in Northern Kentucky, my brother went to UofL Speed School and my sister and I both ended up choosing Bellarmine where I eventually met my husband Ricky. We married in 2005, living across the river in Floyds Knobs for 3.5 years before a job transfer took us to Austin, TX. While we loved Texas, the pull of family and the history we have here brought us back to this great city. We have now planted our roots in Prospect with our 4 boys. I am proud to call Louisville home, and look forward to making my mark in the community in the years to come.”
