I’ve learned a lot this past year … I’ve learned that people and things are not always what they seem. I’ve learned that things will go wrong and people you thought were gold are truly only gold plated. I’ve learned that doors will close but windows will open. I’ve learned that broken things can be put back together. I’ve learned that words aren’t held to the definition they have and that promises can and will be broken. I’ve learned that faith in anything can save you from the darkness. I’ve learned that broken hearts are limitless and will do anything to make you feel sad. I’ve learned that falling down doesn’t mean that you’ll stay down. I’ve learned that people will use you to their satisfaction and drop you once you’ve provided your all.
But because of all these things I’ve learned that the people who are meant to be in your life will stay there. Love doesn’t have a boundary and can carry you until you’re strong enough to walk. Kindness doesn’t cost a thing except the time from your life which makes it priceless and greedy not to share. Compassion is held when we realize our impact and blessings. Bravery is as simple as holding your head high. Optimism is the most attractive trait because it means you can see life at a broad scale instead of just what’s in your tunnel. Empathy is your only way to view life because you never know anyone else’s walk unless you’ve lived it. Light truly wins over darkness because without the sun how would you survive in this jungle we call earth?
All of these lessons add up to one.
Time marches on and eventually you’ll be under it suffocating in the trenches or you’ll be on the frontline battling it out. Sure you’ll get scars along the battle and possibly a fatal one but it’s better than succumbing to fear and hiding from the glory of perseverance. Life doesn’t get easier just because you pass another year but you’ll grow stronger than your wildest dreams and from that strength you’ll be delivered to exactly where you need to be which is exactly where you are …
Breathing in and out …
Look at you surviving when you thought you wouldn’t.
Here’s to another year. I’m ready.
