Meet Allison Myers of Louisville, my friend, a respected foodie, a local fashionista, and a compassionate volunteer.
Allison has been nomiated by The Younger Women’s Club of Louisville to be THE Most Fashionable Philanthropist of Louisville! How cool is that?! But instead of a simple click to get you to vote, the YWC had Allison select a non-profit of her choice to raise donations for! To find out which nonprofit it was, read through this Q&A blog post!
1) Favorite place to shop locally:
There are so many wonderful local places to shop in Louisville but my latest favorite is Blu Boutique in Middletown. It’s an great mix of couture designs and budget friendly clothing and accessories.
2) Describe your style in three words:
Sophisticated, Chic and (sometimes) Daring ?
3. How did you become involved with Blessings in a Backpack?
I was first introduced to Blessings in a Backpack from volunteering at local charity events such as Unbridled Eve. After learning there were more than 15 million children in this country at risk for hunger, I knew I wanted to make a difference in lives of kids who shouldn’t go to bed hungry. I’m such a foodie and love to eat. It’s hard and heartbreaking to image kids starving here in our country. Blessings in a Backpack provides food for elementary students on the weekends. It’s truly a life saving organization.
4. In your opinion, who’s the most fashionable philanthropist?
The most fashionable philanthropist ever has to be Audrey Hepburn. She was a fashion icon that worked with UNICEF for years in some of the poorest communities in the world.
5. What’s your favorite trend for the fall?
I love Mary Janes. They are the “it shoe” for fall. I recently purchased a Mary Janes in burgundy which is the “it color” of the season.
6. Who do you admire in our lovely city?
A local philanthropist and fashionista I admire is my dearest friend Bella Portaro Kueber. She’s a class act. From her charity work, to fighting Crohn’s disease, to the support and love she shows daily to her family, friends and the people of Louisville. Bella throws glitter bombs of kindness and kind heartedness around everywhere she goes. And she does it all with beauty and grace.
7. As a young professional, what is one tip you would tell any woman to guide them with their personal branding?
When it comes to personal branding the best advice I can give to a young woman is to give yourself respect because you are worthwhile. Don’t let others, celebrities, or trends pressure you into modeling your brand or behavior after them. Always think would I like my (future) daughter to post this or what if my daughter is reading this?? As women, we all have a responsibility to model good healthily behaviors for young women and men.
