The dreaded “F” word that I’m always afraid to post … But as you can see, I’ve finally overcome that fear by blogging about it.
It’s the one we’re often criticized the most for since it varies in depth, practices, and definition … Just in case you didn’t already realize what word I’m referencing, it’s the one that will save you more than slay you.
Faith.
Faith brings us through the most difficult moments in life as it transforms our hearts, souls, and minds. We shouldn’t have to define it because each person on earth has faith in something, what that something is shouldn’t matter.
My personal journey has helped me develop my relationship with my higher power. Four key instances over the last 12 years are the defining moments that have helped me cultivate my relationship with God.
The pivotal moments that pushed me to focus on faith were based around hope, love, self-care, and forgiveness.
But faith has been the light that’s helped guide me through the path that I’ve battled for the last two years. In late summer / early fall of 2014 I went through a series of unnecessary stress and heartache that threw my body into a flare with Colitis which was later re-diagnosed as Crohn’s.
After multiple attempts with different infusion drugs, blood transfusions, chemo, and medications galore; I’ve finally found a concoction that is starting to make my quality of life a little better but I still have a lot of this journey ahead of me. The worst part of this has been the isolation, days lost, moments I’ve had to miss, work I had to let go, friendships strained, education held, and so much more.
I still battle this every day. I still deal with the physical impacts and the domino effect it has in my life … I’m in a constant state of pain, fatigue, nausea, and other not so fun symptoms that is TMI overload.
Please note: I’m not writing this for sympathy, I’m writing that as a reference to the theme of this blog.
You can truly go through hell and back because you can survive anything that you set your mind to but you must first find your faith and cling to it with confidence that you will get through whatever obstacles you face because they’re all temporary.
Faith is eternal.
Find your faith and just say “F it!” If faith is what gets you through your day you’re doing wonderfully.
There could be much worse things that you use or abuse to get you through. Never let anyone tell you anything less and if they’re persistent in their attempts to bring you misery, pray for them and be kind.
It’s sad more than anything but remember that they’re the only one that can change them. So say a little prayer for them and then refocus your time on whats good for you.
Back to faith instead of hate …
Even if you’re looking for something to have faith in, try to place faith within your heart and know that you can get through this phase and all of this is temporary. Take it slow and know that there are beautiful days to come not because I’m writing it but because you have faith in overcoming this phase.
Flex your faith with courage, follow the light, and don’t forget to enjoy your journey.
It’s your life. Make it beautiful.
