We ventured over to the Louisville Salt Cave for a Salt therapy (Halotherapy) session to celebrate my friend Steph’s birthday.
Halotherapy is said to benefit the immune system, life balance and energy. They say that being in their salt therapy room for 45 minutes is equivalent to 4 days of relaxation on the beach.
I must admit that the air smelled like salt, felt like salt, and even tasted like it. I bit my lip on accident and it couldn’t believe it, my lips were covered in salt from the air. It tasted just like I were on a beach.
We opted to lay on the ground instead of the Zero Gravity chairs. The salt on the ground felt as though we’re laying on a beach covered in shells. We had comfy socks to wear and I brought my huge comfy granny sweater to cozy up with. It was heavenly.
It was just the two of us. Laying on the salt and staring up at the fiber optic lights while listening to meditation music. It’s the most soothing experiences I’ve had in quite some time. With the KDF miniMarathon and Unbridled Eve on the horizon, I may become a regular here.

Louisville Salt Cave’s website states that their space is constructed with some of the Earth’s purest and unpolluted salt. Specifically, the pink Himalayan rock salt which said to be over 250 million years old and contains over 84 trace minerals.
Their site also has the following info listed:
– Salt therapy utilizes salt for its healing capabilities. Louisville Salt Cave provides a clean microclimate of 5 tons of salt crystals that line the walls and floor. A halogenerator diffuses microscopic salt particles in the room to stimulate healing and protect from illness. The pure air environment inside the cave is allergen free and saturated in negative ions.
– Negative ions create positive vibes by increasing the mood enhancer, serotonin. Being in our salt therapy room for 45 minutes is equivalent to 4 days of salt exposure if you were on the beach for 4 days! Salt is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory in nature!
