THE MEASURE OF A MAN
Not – How did he die? But – How did he live?
Not – What did he gain? But – What did he give?
These are the things that measure the worth.
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not – What was his station? But – had he a heart?
And – How did he play his God-given part?
Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer?
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not – What was his church? Not – What was his creed?
But – Had he befriended those really in need?
Not – What did the sketch in the newspaper say?
But – How many were sorry when he passed away?
These are the things that measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

How he lives … He lives bravely by the experiences he has endured yet stays humble for the aspirations he wants to be.
How he gives … He gives advice to friends, love to his family, adoration towards his wife, and selflessly to nonprofits.
His heart is open, available, and happy.
He’s open to hear about spirituality. He always has hid mind available so he can give a strong gesture of support to those that need it, reassurance to the weary, and laughter with smiles in some of the most bleakest momemts.
He supports me in befriending and strengthening our bonds with friends when we are drawn to help them along in their journey.
His passing is never one I wish to measure because I want to be with him until the moment I leave this place on earth.
If I had to measure everything he does that makes him an extraordinary man, there would be too many people that could give me a list of quotes and insights of their personal experiences with him. It would truly be too long for me to do.
He’s helped do many people do so many things. He says that it’s me, that I’m the person that influences him to want to be a better man.
That may be the case, but I’d rather believe that he’s my real life “George Bailey” showing me how to live by watching his actions and the impact he has on so many others, but especially on me is truly profound.
I gave up on love once upon a time ago and funny enough, that love never gave up on me. Perseverance and courage brought us to this point which is exactly where we’re meant to be.
