The first and most important relationship we have is with ourselves. Self-love is sometimes the hardest to include in our life because we’re always on the go and we spend so much of our time taking care of others. In the hyper focused social media world we live in, and that I personally love, we want to take pictures of everything … Our food, drinks, loved ones, pets, sunshine, rain, shoes, clothes, trees; anything and everything but loving ourselves.
But lately there is a lot of bad press about selfies, namely because a few celebrities have taken it to the extreme with tabletop books of their selfies … Well, one in particular but I’m sure there will be many more to come. We may roll our eyes and talk about how vain it is and that it’s a waste of trees to even print the books but there is something to be said about someone that has so much confidence that she’s willing to put it all out there, literally.
As much as I may appear to be an extrovert I am truly an introvert that judges my own work, writing and photography, rather harshly and it usually takes a pep-talk with myself or my GGC (my group of besties) to have the bravery to post to the world on my blog and social media.
I think it is incredibly beautiful when my friends (men and women) post their thoughts, selfies, pictures, videos, et cetera to the web. It shows their ability to connect and their raw vulnerability. It’s one of the most beautiful things about social media in my opinion.
My circle of friends are hyper social on all social media platforms and I love it! They’re such badass’s for being so brave to show their TRUE selves without apologizing for who they are and what they’re into. From skateboarding in a bikini to lip syncing to Mariah Carey, my friends are real AF and its so refreshing.
My latest social media obsession is periscope. I love the idea that I can view the world through your eyes. You can broadcast what you’re doing, who you’re with, and share that experience with the world.
The reason I love social media is because I love connecting with everyone. I love feeling the excitement of a wedding, the birth of a child, and even the miniature “yay, life” moments that make life worth living.
We’re all here to connect so connect. Take that selfie, post that video, share your feelings, love yourself and share your world so the world can love you back.
You’re awesome.
Share your awesomeness.
I can’t wait to see you and your world!
