Meet Maria Pollard.
If you recall, my blog was to be based on beauty but then I realized, I wanted to know what beauty was within these women, not what’s on the surface.
Here is her definition of Beauty:
I have asked my lovely friend Maria to share what her definition of beauty was. Thankfully she was honored to share her definition. I hope you enjoy reading her definition and as much as I did.
“Beauty encompasses anything and everything, it exists inside and out, it blesses the good and it blesses the bad, and at times it’s even controversial. The stereotype of beauty comes in all kinds of perfect packages: flawless skin; thick, shiny hair; strong nails; white, bright smiles; eternal youth; and low-fat indexes. Still, the true meaning of beauty, to me, is of a different nature: morning dew on a leaf; the setting sun’s intense beams, fighting itself through a forest of trees before disappearing; a kind gesture for absolutely no reason and without agendas; a stranger’s smile coming your way; the different sounds my cats make when communicating with me; the dimple on my husband’s face when he smiles; and last but never least: my mother’s love, truly unconditional. Her laughter, which is weaker than before; her voice, still going but not as bright; and, the silence we still enjoy in each other’s company. Full of comfort, family, history, and gratitude. A gratitude so strong over the fact that we are still here, still together although miles apart, and still doing absolutely anything and everything we can for each other. This, to me, is beauty at its best. Loving someone else more than we love ourselves. After all, isn’t this how we can, slowly but surely and with great tenacity, create a better and more loving world?”
