Beauty blogging for me is an inside job just as much as it is an outside job. You can be the most beautiful woman on earth on the outside and be the ugliest woman on the inside. Beauty is a balancing act.
Beauty is an action.
Beauty is an emotion.
Beauty is a state of mind.
Ways to practice beauty in your life, similar to how I practice it in mine.
1. Accept yourself.
When I stopped judging myself and learned to appreciate who I am, I became a happier, healthier person. Coming into the realization that I am not perfect nor will I ever be has made me more compassionate with myself and others. In every human being there is a soul, there is life, there is worth, and there is the ability to see all these things in everyone, including one’s self.
2. Treat yourself the way you want others to treat you.
The way I treat myself sets the standard for others. I love who I am and I’m comfortable in my skin. Not everyone will like me and I’m good with that.
3. Stop caring about who you are to other people.
Once upon a time I cared so much about what other people thought of me. To the point that I lived as someone I wasn’t and I was only happy when others were happy with me. But as soon as I put myself first and others opinions second, I was much happier and felt better about myself. I am good just as I am. You are good just the way you are.
4. Know your worth.
We accept the love we think we deserve. If you don’t love yourself, no one else is going to. Break free of the toxic relationship with yourself and realize how amazing you are.
5. Let go.
Let go of faux friends, lovers, family, etc. It doesn’t matter who someone is in your life, if they are meant to fit into your life, they will. If they’re full of hate and negativity they will spread that into your life. Like the saying goes, “If you can’t change the people around you, change the people around you.”
6. Forgive yourself and others.
Forgive yourself for things you cannot change and move past it. Forgive others, if you don’t, it will only hurt you. Resentment is like drinking poison, it won’t hurt anyone but you.
7. Be positive.
I was famous for dwelling on the past and it was a miserable place to be. When I would do that I made others feel miserable. For the last few years I have focused on today and tomorrow. I realized focusing on yesterday was something that I could never change. Chasing ghosts of our past is not the way to live. Focus on love and being positive today and every day.
8. Be your own cheerleader.
The purpose in life is to evolve which will have moments of failure and success. Don’t beat yourself up over your failures. Learn from them and move on. Never stop cheering yourself on.
Loving yourself is about enjoying your life, trusting your own feelings, taking chances, losing and finding happiness, cherishing the memories, and learning from the past. Sometimes you have to stop worrying, wondering, and doubting. Have faith that things will work out, maybe not exactly how you wanted but how they’re meant to be.
