Life. Love. Louisville.

Humans of Louisville – Maggie

05.26.16 | Louisville

When writers meet and share moments over stories and obscure wordplay they usually find a connection that they’ll share with one another for the rest of time because the vulnerability is rare. No one wants to share their words and have judgement casted upon the lyrics of their heart.

We all want connection.

I’ve found that in this lovely woman that is uncommonly brave to share her writing with me and the other writers in our tribe.

Writers bleed on paper what they won’t show to the rest of the world till their ready … One day the world will be blown away by this little lady.

It is a honor to introduce you to this amazing Human of Louisville, Maggie.

“I love Louisville because it has brought out the best in me. I grew up in Lexington, thinking Louisville was the last place I would ever live. But six years later, I can’t imagine living anywhere else. It really is the ‘possibility city’, because it offers communities for anyone and everyone.

I found a community at the University of Louisville, where I was able to finish a degree. The students, teachers and even guest speakers are still all a part of my circles.

I found a safe haven at Feet to the Fire workshops. I’ve never felt so comfortable calling myself a writer and sharing my voice.

I found a tribe of strong, kind, empowering women in the Junior League, who live to better themselves and help everything they touch in this city thrive.

All of the ‘untapped potential’ from my pre-Louisville life is coming to fruition. I don’t want to be a college graduate, I am one, I don’t want to ‘be a writer’, I am writing, and I don’t want to be a ‘do-gooder’, I am doing good things.

To me, that’s Louisville. Louisville is flourishing because Louisvillians are flourishing, and that’s a beautiful thing.
