Don’t you love a good challenge? Anytime I hear the word challenge my ears perk up. Any challenge I’ve ever been a part of physically, personally, or professionally I have always excelled. Especially if someone says I can’t do something. I complete it just to prove that I am capable.
This past spring I completed the Kentucky Derby Festival’s miniMarathon with little training at all. Why? Because I was an ambassador and felt obligated even though two doctors told me not to. What’s the worst that could happen, right? Turns out nothing happened other than a lot of muscle fatigue … Everything hurt but I did it. I wouldn’t of crossed the finish line if it weren’t for my girlfriend Lynnie.
I wanted to challenge myself again this year now that I’m training and in Beachbody challenge groups to build my muscles and hold me accountable. I’m also consuming the right eating foods, taking suggested supplements, and I am on Entyvio infusions to put my ulcerative colitis into remission.
I applied to be an ambassador again this year and they selected me to return! Yay life!
To beat my time last year and to challenges myself again, I’m trying to finish by 3:15 walking the entire mini. I’ve asked my friends that don’t think they can do it to walk with me. It’s the best sense of accomplishment I’ve felt in the fitness realm of my life in eons.
There’s a great training app I’m using as well, it’s the Hal Higdon Half-Marathon, Novice 1 app available on iTunes for $9.99. There’s a daily guide for milage and pace. There’s also a lot of tips. I find this to be extremely helpful for my busy schedule. It takes the guessing work out and makes it simple for training.
Reminder: We’re only 207 days away from the KDF marathon & miniMarathon! Register today and walk the mini with me! We’re better together! Lucky you, you read till the end! Here’s a code that will save you $5: AMB5OFF1 – it expires today! Challenge yourself. I’m right here cheering you on! Let’s do this!
What a great goal… That’s usually the time I cross the finish line every year too so I’ll probably be right next to you :)
Congrats on another year of being an ambassador!
