• rudeneja • the way the weather and nature start to feel like autumn – the poetry of leaves turning red, brown, gold and orange and falling through the air, flying on the wind and landing in your path. The crunch when you walk on them. The feeling of coziness and crispness and the perfection of the temperature – not too cold, not too hot. Just right. I would say this is one of the most perfect pumpkin/fall leaf orange tones we’ve ever produced. So warm and scrumptious.
Fall in love with autumn with this list of things to do:
Decorate Your Space
Regardless as to how big or small your space may be, it’s home. Take a leaf from outside and place it in your space to remind you that change is essential. You can also go all out and let your creativity and bank account flex your decorating skills to the max. Either way, do you and do it with joy.
Fall Foliage Tour
Speaking of taking a leaf from nature, remind yourself of the simplicity of the season as it shows how easy it is to let go of things that are preventing your growth into the next season of your life. Sounds silly or deep but if you’d rather live on the surface of it all, get out and feel the breeze in the air (when it finally arrives in Louisville), and observe the amazing colors Mother Nature gives us as visual gifts.
Throw a Party for Your Girlfriends
Pick a date, select location, invite friends, ask them to bring clothing they no longer want and take the remains of it all to donate along with the following “Must-Do” to keep your closet and home fluid as you let go of items you no longer need. *Don’t forget to include fall-themed food and beverages!
Donate Clothes
Take a good look at your closet. Are there clothes, jackets, and coats that you’re not wearing? Have you worn it in the last year? Do you have a negative memory attached to it? Donate it. Why hang on to things that you no longer use? Girl, haven’t you learned anything from the leaves on the trees? It’s time to let go and you’re your unneeded belonging to others. Life and your clothing are a cycle; get/give.
Roast S’mores
Bonfires and fireplaces better get ready, the weather’s about to drop and things are going to get crazy with all of the melted oozy deliciousness on a stick. This goes without saying but just in case someone reading this doesn’t realize you should actually not make s’mores whilst drinking, letting kids do it alone, or any other dangerous activity that shouldn’t have to be mentioned. If this is complicated for you to grasp, please don’t make them unless you’re with someone that understands safety skills 101.
Fall Picnic
I’ve had a picnic basket for two years and keep thinking that one day I will use it. Guess what, this year I’m going to make it happen. Come hell or high water, it’s going to happen, even if it ends up happening in my own backyard. I’m driven and it’s going to be a thing. I can’t wait to finally partake in a romantic activity that I’ve never experienced in all of my adult life. Think hot chocolate in a thermos, a few bites of preferred bites, and flowers for a sweet memory never to be forgotten.
Make Chili
What is it about football, leaves falling, and the sun setting a little earlier that makes us want a great pot of chili? White or red, they’re both delicious and a fundamental part of my memories throughout my life. It’s my favorite to make… just don’t tell my husband, then I’ll be forced to make dinner more often. ;) I may or may not of made it for my kids as my husband had a work dinner the other night.
Screen Time
Phone down. Laptop closed. iPad away. Watch the classics on your TV screen; ET, The Addams Family, Karate Kid are two of my personal favorites to watch with the kids. But if you want to scare yourself to death turn on Scream, Halloween, The Exorcist, The Shining. The Craft, or a throwback to your childhood 80’s babies and watch Teen Witch. – Top that!
Get Cozy
Break out the cozy sweaters, leggings, slouching socks, beanies, and grab yourself a blanket and a hot beverage of your choice and relax. It’s time to pull back so you can bloom bigger and better in the future.
Plan Ahead
Think ahead for next month. What are you thankful for? What do you want to change about your life so you can live a happier and healthier existence that positively impacts others? Write it out. Plan out each step on how you’ll get there. Then think about giving and how you’ll give to your loved ones this holiday season by spending time with the people that love you unconditionally and feed your mind, heart, and spirit with goodness.
Keep your face to the sun and keep on glowing for grace and gumption to last you through the end of this year.
