Feeling gloomy with this dreary weather? Me too.
Let’s beat this sleepy attitude and exchange our sunshine fueled desires for a bit of meditation.
If you’re new like me, you may not have the full capacity to release your mind so you can fully meditate. I have a million thoughts that run through my head about what I need to do, what projects are coming up, what deadlines I’m trying to reach, which people I should call, who haven’t I texted back, why does that girl not like me, what’s up with my hair, how should I try to be a better person, et cetera. All the while I’m trying to center myself and become “one” with my breathing patterns and such.
Between a new app I found and my Mala beads, I’ve become a dedicated meditation machine.
I discovered real Tibetan Mala Beads right here in Louisville. They’re available at the Inner Warrior on Frankfort Ave. This lovely boutique makes me feel like I need everything they have just to feel at peace with myself which is contrary to the reality that we actually don’t need any of it but if it makes you feel great about your meditation, do it. It’s your life, it’s your inner peace, and it’s your mediation time so just do whatever you want to do so you can feel at peace.
Insight Timer is my favorite new app for guided meditations and / or for a meditation timer. “On any given day Insight Timer users collectively meditate for approximately 1,000,000 minutes. For the statisticians, that’s almost 700 days of meditation every 24 hours. And in the last 30 days there have been 37,381,610 collective minutes.”
You can see how many people are meditating with you which proves you’re never really alone on your journey. Oh my, Mala! That’s a whole lot of ohm-ing going on.
Check it out. You never know, you may find yourself in the process and if you don’t just laugh and try again. Life isn’t as complicated as we make it. Stop taking yourself so seriously … LOL, already.
Yay, life!
